Why not consider a bespoke workshop for your meeting or conference? Using historic documents, participants will be guided through a series of activities; working in groups they will strive to achieve their team's objective. It could be be a competition, a way of exploring local history or expanding specialist knowledge of military records. I'll work with you to design an experience that works for your group.
For small groups, family or friends who would like to learn together, a Course may be more suitable

Select the duration
Select the duration that suits your event, from a 1-2 hour activity, a half day session lasting 3+ hours, or for a specialist group wanting an in depth workshop, spend 6 hours across a full day. Consider whether you would like to break for refreshments or lunch, which you would need to organise.

Choose a theme or topic
Choose the focus of the session to suit the interests of your group. For a fun, social event where not everyone is interested in genealogy, a personal story can work well as a theme. A half day session is great for developing a new skill such as building a timeline, or exploring a group of records. A full day gives time for societies with a particular interest to really get to grips with a topic such as First World War war diaries and trench maps.

Agree the activity
The number of attendees, venue facilities, duration and theme will guide the type of activity. For a 1-2 hour session, dividing participants into groups of 4-8 works well, with each group provided with a pack of documents and a task. For a half day session, each group might be given a different assignment, with the results brought together as the final, collective activity. For half or full day specialist sessions you may prefer members work in pairs. The content of each workshop is designed for you and your group so that everyone has the most enjoyable experience.
